Yesterday, SCRA Technology Ventures’ SC Launch program presented two
“big check” investments to Charleston-area companies GreenWizard and
Terressentia during a networking event at the SCRA MUSC Innovation
Center in Charleston. Both companies received previous investment
funding from the economic development program and have qualified for
additional investment through promising business growth.
GreenWizard is a comprehensive product management software and project
collaboration provider that enables the design and construction
community to better manage products and project data, collaborate on
projects, assess LEED design and construction credits, integrate with
LEED Online, and archive projects. GreenWizard’s tools simplify the
process of building efficient, healthy, and sustainable construction
projects. Architecture, Engineering, and Construction firms are able to
utilize GreenWizard’s interactive and dynamic tools to collaborate on
product data and documentation, which is supplied and updated directly
from manufacturers.
The company’s CEO, Adam Bernholz, is a successful entrepreneur. Bernholz
previously worked in the venture capital industry before founding The
Service Source, a business to business marketplace for business
services. Bernholz founded GreenWizard after looking to build his own
net-zero home near Charleston.
“While researching potential materials for my own home, I realized the
profound market pain associated with researching, procuring and
documenting green building products,” said Bernholz. “I founded
GreenWizard to address this pain point in this growing market, as well
as assist in the marketing, sales and distribution of green building
products. We have had great success in reaching these markets, and the
support of SC Launch will certainly help GreenWizard to continue to
grow.”
Terressentia was founded in Charleston, SC in 2007, by a group led by
Earl D. Hewlette. Hewlette serves as CEO and is a Columbia, SC native
with an MBA and law degree from the University of South Carolina. His
distinguished career includes more than a decade in law practice and
over 25 years of successfully leading several resort and hospitality
businesses.
Terressentia has created a patented, award-winning manufacturing
technology process called TerrePURE® that quickly refines high-quality
distilled spirits for retailers and private brand owners. This
revolutionary process uses energy-driven oxidation and filtration.
“We are delighted to receive this additional investment from SC Launch,”
said Hewlette. “The support of SC Launch has brought meaningful
contributions to our company as we continue to meet milestones and grow.”
“These are two Lowcountry-based companies that have made great strides
in recent years,” said SCRA Executive Vice President Ambrose Schwallie.
“We look forward to the future successes and contributions that
GreenWizard and Terressentia will bring to the Charleston area, and will
ultimately help grow South Carolina’s Knowledge Economy.”
SCRA Technology Ventures has provided funding and support, through its
SC Launch program, for 271 qualified entities since its inception in
2006. The SC Launch program has attracted more than $185 million in
add-on, private equity investment funding in South Carolina
knowledge-based, start-up companies.
