Seline 200: Artificial Intelligence program

Seline, version 200 which is presented here, is an Artificial Intelligence program that contains numerous programs like vocal, written and designs memos. 'Seline' is not a badly spelt woman's name but an abbreviation of 'Système d'Emulation Linéaire Introduisant des Notions Etendues' (Linear Emulation system introducing understood notions). Its goal is to improve the interface between man and machine and to bring the computer to life. Seline is also capable of answering its user and of changing its picture of man.

6/ Verdict

A – Development

Seline 200 is unique and in this first stage is an ambitious project, so we won’t dare to say that it is no good. Of course, it is always possible to evaluate Seline against a similar program.

The one great regret is the non compatibility with Outlook, although this function is under development and should be added in the next version.

I also think that the restrictions in Seline hurt. The software is not for the moment able to integrate with the other programs then those provided with the program and it is therefore impossible to manage and follow the tasks that we would like to give her, especially remotely. For example, defragging the hard disk or performing a search on a subject…

The small details that follow are secondary but can still be a little disappointing. For me, I find it regrettable that it is necessary to press a button to activate the voice recognition, which suddenly loses all interest.

Finally, I find it a shame that it is not possible to teach Seline notions, even if the function is complex to implement we should not forget the primary aim is to improve the interface between man and computer.

But Seline also has a number of positives and it’s these that I want to take from this first test. Firstly, the personalisation of the Ai has been well though out, even if it’s not innovative. The fact that the AI responses are displayed in the form of a bubble and are spoken brings the process to life.

This helps with the vitality of the program and without a doubt its humour. Seline can be either happy or upset depending on what you tell her, which isn’t always precise but offers a life presence that works well in this AI form.

Next, certain advanced users will be happy that their demand for keyboard (or speech) functions have been supported “show me a number” rather then using the mouse. This improvement will greatly help people who lose things to easily find what they are looking for by using their PC and version 200 (handicapped people as well).

The integration of the remote technologies brings a whole new dimension to Seline’s universe. The ability to work together is remarkable and useful for groups to be more efficient. The future task management allows you to continue to perform operations remotely as well as still being productive and efficient.

The final positive is the most important: Seline, above all else, makes us dream! Why' Simply, because it is the first step towards the dream life every man would like. Even if it is not yet there, then Seline still allows us to advance the AI world towards the future, a future closer then we think.

B – simply

Negative points:

  • incompatibility with Outlook
  • Inability to execute tasks other then in the integrated tasks
  • Poor voice recognition management
  • Perfection of the public knowledge base is impossible.

Positive Points

  • Nice looking program
  • Presence of an agent as the AI interface
  • Life simulation
  • Simplification of your PC for beginners
  • Efficient treatment of orders
  • Remote connections
  • The future that we dream of

The tests for Generation NT have not been performed at an advanced level as we are not programmers in any way. The positive and negative points are relative to each user and to what degree this helps with their needs. Feel free to evaluate the software for yourself in regards to this test.
