Set the sound volume on the iPhone’s ringer and alerts

February 18th, 2011 - 05:10 am ET by D. T.

By default on the iPhone, the volume of the ringer and alerts varies depending on the devices sound setting. If you are playing some games or watching videos on the Internet, the general sound volume may be turned up and this will therefore turn up the ringing volume and alerts notification, with the sound c hanging every time you change the device. This may lead to you missing an alert if you have been playing a game with the sound turned down at night.

To avoid these kinds of problems, it is possible to set the ringing and alerts volume.

To do this, go to the section "Settings" and select "Sounds".

In the sub-section "Sounds and alerts", place the cursor over "Use the buttons". It is here that you will have to change the volume to Off for the ringer and alerts so that they remain fixed at a specific level rather than changing with the general setting.
