Sigma Corporation of America (www.sigmaphoto.com)
is pleased to announce that its 150mm
F2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO Macro lens has been named the “European Macro
Lens 2012-2013” in this year’s European
Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) Awards.
EISA selected Sigma’s large aperture medium telephoto macro lens because
of its build and image quality. This upgraded lens features Sigma’s
proprietary Optical Stabilization (OS) technology and provides extremely
high optical performance from infinity to 1:1 macro. It is sold by
authorized Sigma dealers for the MSRP of $1,600.
According to a citation provided by EISA, “The Sigma 150mm F2.8 EX DG OS
HSM APO Macro lens is one of the best performing macro lenses available
on the market. The combination of a long focal length and thereby good
working distance between lens and subject, high sharpness even at full
aperture and optical image stabilization makes it perfect for catching
dragonflies, butterflies and other elusive insects handheld. But the
lens is also excellent for photographing plants or portraits when you
want to achieve a really soft and pleasant blurry background. If you
also consider how solidly this lens is made, its price makes it a real
bargain!”
EISA is comprised of 50 special interest magazines from 19 European
countries and it started in 1982 when the editors from five European
photo magazines came together to select “The Camera of the Year.” Since
then, EISA member magazine editors have broadened the scope of the
annual awards and they convene each year to decide which products are
worthy of EISA Awards.
“Our 150mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO Macro lens allows for the
flexibility of handheld photography when photographers want to get
close-up shots that are difficult to capture,” said Mark Amir-Hamzeh,
president of Sigma Corporation of America. “EISA’s recognition of this
versatile lens highlights our dedication to developing products that
expand our unique lens lineup and help produce outstanding image quality
for photographers of all types and levels.”
This year, Sigma also took home two awards from the Technical Image
Press Association (TIPA). The company’s 18-200mm
F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM and APO
Macro 180mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM lenses won for the “Best Entry Level
DSLR Lens” and “Best Expert DSLR Lens” awards, respectively.
