  • Send a file

To be able to send a file across a communication program is nothing new, it is already a feature that is at the heart of instant messaging, but who has never been disappointed with the rate of transfer offered'

When sending a file via MSN Messenger, or the new version Windows Live Messenger, the file is actually sent via a server owned by Microsoft before it arrives on the hard drive at the destination, thus making transfers slower.

With Skype, the file is actually transferred directly from the computer of the sender to the computer of the receiver. There is also no need to worry about the security of the file, as the transfer is encrypted.

  • Sending contacts

On skype, adding a contact means searching through the address book to find the name of the person that you wish to add, it is not possible to add someone by simply typing the name of the contact. You need to start a search with their details and then choose the corresponding contact to add to your list.

With the option “send contacts”, you can send the contact details of one of your contacts directly to another. This will mean that the person receiving the contact will not have to perform this search making it very practical when needing to add multiple contacts quickly.
