Among the different Windows Mobile handsets, besides the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, we also discovered the new release from HTC, the HTC P3470 PDAphone (code name Pharos). Nothing out of the ordinary in the model, that comes with a navigation ball in place of the traditional directional cross.
Here we can see the presence of an integrated A-GPS receiver, associated to the TomTom navigation software. The touch screen is running QVGA and the device is WiFi compatible. It should be noted that HTC took advantage of the show to officially launch its HTC Shift UMPC (finally!) which should see imminent commercialisation.
From their side of things, Toshiba has added a new model to their 2008 Portégé range. After the Toshiba G710 smartphone and the Toshiba G910/G920 PDAphone, that we reviewed in January, its now the Toshiba Portégé G810 PDAphone that has been unveiled at the MWC 2008 show (not to be confused with the Samsung SGH-G810 which runs Symbian S60).
The Portégé G810 offers a mirror finish, with a directional pad and blue lit tactile buttons for the functions. The device measures only 14mm in thickness, but comes with everything you could ask for in a Windows Mobile handset: WiFi, Bluetooth, A-GPS receiver, FM radio as well as EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA compatibility.
Eten has also presented two PDApones running Windows Mobile 6, one with a full keyboard and the other being DVB-H compatible for Mobile TV. Here as well, the two models seem to quite complete in their level of functions.
The Eten Glofiish M810 PDAphone presents with a side sliding keyboard and QVGA display. It has a GPS receiver as well as WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options. We also note the presence of a Samsung 500 MHz processor and EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA compatibility.
The Eten Glofiish V900 PDAphone is the first model from the Taiwanese maker to implement a DVB-H chip for Mobile TV, with a small antenna on the bottom left hand side. It is also EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA compatible and benefits from a VGA screen resolution and TV output.
