Getting a stable sound when playing a video with WMP

I’m sure most people have been annoyed at some stage when the sound goes quiet while watching a film. When watching a film late at night it may be necessary to turn the action scenes down so that the whole house isn’t woken, and then turn it back up again for dialogue so that you can understand what the people are saying.

The Windows Media Player software has a rather practical option to avoid these issues, a silent mode. It is also very simple to activate it.

While playing the film, right click and select "Improvements" then "Silent mode". You then just need to activate the option and configure it, by choosing the average difference between the loudest and softest sounds.
