StyleTap: Palm OS emulator for Android

You just don’t think you have enough choice of Android applications among the 600 000 postings made to Google Play? With StyleTap and their emulator, you can now ad an additional 30 000 Palm OS applications to your range.

StyleTap has released another applications emulator to the market, this time for Palm OS apps on Android. They previously developed a system for Palm OS applications to run on Symbian and Windows Phone Mobile and even iOS (although only on jail broken phones), allowing users to run old Palm OS applications which they may have become attached to on their old PDA’s.

The software developer has now released StyleTap Platform for Android, which allows Palm applications to run and interact with the Android platform. They claim that they are regularly asked about making applications portable between platforms, as users don’t want to have to continually change each time they receive a new OS.


Interactions with Android
StyleTap state that they are very pleased with their Android emulation solution, with it being a lot easier to work with than the closed Apple environment. Apple doesn’t allow any changes made to their ecosystem, with the emulator therefore having to be distributed from outside of the App Store.

The StyleTap emulator for Android allows you to manage a certain number of interactions like the TCP/IP protocol, access to audio recording functions, and the use of the devices storage space as a virtual memory card and copy/cut/paste options between Android and Palm OS applications.

It also allows you to recover information from the Android devices inbuilt GPS (in NMEA format) so that the information can be injected into Palm OS applications. StyleTap Platform for Android is sold for 49.95 dollars, with it being possible use for free for a 14 day trial period before purchase.
