As T-Mobile USA increases its presence in Minnesota and Wisconsin, the
company has appointed Tim Adams as the region’s first vice president
general manager, responsible for all sales across all channels in the
region. Adams, who is based in the Minneapolis area, is also responsible
for profitable customer growth and retention, with full profit and loss
(P&L) accountability in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
T-Mobile began its regionalization efforts earlier this year to enable
its vice presidents/general managers to invest in and run their markets
as individual business units. Adams will have the ability to influence
network investment, store locations, customer offers, and local
marketing programs.
Adams brings more than 22 years of experience in sales leadership and
operational execution with several Fortune 500 companies. He joins
T-Mobile from Blockbuster, Inc. where he was the zone vice president of
sales and operations. In that role he was responsible for seven regions
in the eastern half of the United States, with full P&L responsibility
for more than 1,700 store locations. At Blockbuster, Adams’ teams
consistently ranked top in the country for overall profitability revenue
growth per visit, average check increases, and employee/customer
satisfaction scores. He was instrumental in implementing several key
projects that resulted in significant cost efficiencies, higher customer
satisfaction and improved product mix which increased gross margins.
Prior to Blockbuster, Adams held various progressive leadership roles at
Gateway Inc, Office Depot, and Sam’s Club Inc., ranging from general
manager to region sales and operations director. At Gateway, Adams led
sales training programs for new products launches and launched a
leadership development program to maximize growth opportunities for
high-performing sales leaders. He also was responsible for six regions
in the Southeastern U.S., with full P&L responsibility for more than 500
store locations along with 350 “store in store” locations.
The Minnesota/Wisconsin region, which has 918,000 customers, consists of
38 retail stores, 19 branded locations, an additional 71 partner stores,
as well as more than 320 national retail partner stores. The company
employs approximately 540 employees in the Minnesota/Wisconsin region
across retail stores, enterprise sales, mid-market - B2B, small business
– B2B, operations, finance, engineering, local marketing, human
resources, customer care centers and other various functions.
“T-Mobile customers in Minnesota and Wisconsin are fortunate to have
someone locally, like Tim, who knows what makes the area unique, and is
dedicated to ensuring local customers receive the award-winning T-Mobile
service they expect,” said Pancho Hall, senior vice president, central
