North American physicians are already working on a replacement for the OLED display technology, with this technology to be more powerful, cheaper and better for the environment.
While the OLED display technology - Organic Light-Emitting Diode – has only just started to appear on the market, notably as televisions manufacturers by LG, Samsung, Sony and Panasonic, researchers are already looking at its replacement.
Developed by a group of physicians at the University of Utah, Spintronic OLED is a technology that is completely different to OLED, with this using the properties of electron cycles. This allows for more interesting lighting than that seen with OLED, with reduced production costs and a reduced carbon footprint.
At this time, only the colour orange can be produced, at a temperature below -33°C. According to the scientists, other colours like white, blue and red will be developed over the coming years. This is certainly a technology that the general public won’t be seeing on masse for a good while yet.
