Travel lighter with a super-compact camera!
It is the summer holidays soon and it’s without a doubt that during this period you take a lot of photos. To keep these memorable moments, you don’t necessarily need to carry a large camera that is cumbersome! In this comparison, we have looked at six ultra-thin and ultra-compact cameras offering 10 and 12 MP, come in a range of colours and inside a price range of 150 to 600 dollars. The products we tested were:
- Casio EXILIM Card EX-S12,
- Fujifilm FinePix Z200fd,
- Nikon Coolpix S620,
- Panasonic DMC-FX550,
- Pentax Optio P70
- and Sony DSC-T900.
Our test criteria
We tested these digital cameras according to the same criteria. The cases design (metal, plastic, solidness), the lighting of the LCD screen in full daylight, the weight and size of the digital camera and the battery life (maximum number of photos). Also; the view options inside and outside, the automatic focus and video recording (VGA, QVGA, HD 720p), the ease of use in the menus (tactile, control buttons, pre-programmed options). We took the same photos with each to be able to better compare colours; lighting and the flash compensation. All of the in fashion functions like red eye correction (present in all), picture stabiliser, face detection, smile detection and picture editing also contributed to the end score so that we could find the "best" product on offer.
In fashion designs and well performing devices!
Without keeping you in suspense, we can say that these ultra-compact digital cameras are all as good as their compact friends. Te only points that differ, to the advantage of the compacts, is the optical zooms that are more powerful, the LCD screens which are generally 3”, and sometimes the size of the CCD captures in 10 MP (3648 × 2736 pixels) and 12 MP (4000x3000 pixels) which vary. In any event, it is very difficult to gauge the pictures taken with the ultra-compacts against the other cameras as they are of just as good a quality for most of the models tested in this article.
