Windows Vista: presentation of the graphical interface

Windows XP has now given way to Windows Vista, after more then five years of waiting. Windows Vista has become more innovative on nearly all points: architecture, security, usability, stability, etc. The list of new features is consistent and of significant length, but there are still quite a lot of people that are hesitant to make the move. This is why we have written a few articles, so as to help you discover what really is new and on offer in this system. We will start by Vista’s new interface…

Windows Vista: presentation of the graphical interface

To finish with the Start menu, the functions, PC controls (Lock, close session, change user, shutdown, and restart) have been changed. The first button with the logo will put your computer into hibernate.
Update: This is a lot more effective then that seen in Windows XP as this new hybrid sleep mode puts the normal standby and hibernate functions together.
When putting the system into this hybrid standby, the memory will continue to take power in the same way as standby (in the case of XP), but its contents (desktop, running applications, etc) will also be stored in the form of an image on the hard drive.
When rebooting, if the computer has not been turned off, the memories contents will be used to restore the PC into the same state it was left before being put to sleep.
Even if the memory is emptied due to a cut of electricity, the system image stored on the hard drive will instead be used.
