GI Joe The Rise of Cobra

GI Joe, the greatest hero of them all, is back on the big screen. And like all big movie productions, the film is accompanied by a video game release. Here you won’t be reworking the same story from the film, as you instead make your way through a completely new story. The video game is before all else an opportunity for fans to once again discover, and take on the role of the characters met over many long years, rather then guaranteeing an excellent up to date video game.

With the announcement that GI Joe would soon be released, the video game of course, it has to be said it didn’t have much of an effect on us. This is perhaps because, personally, we have already seen the cartoons and owning a GI Joe doll was never really a dream of ours. Or it could just be because it is just another adaptation for which, in most cases, we know how they will turn out. In any event, the arrival of GI Joe didn’t really get us excited.
But, putting our own interest aside for a moment, the possibility of playing the different characters in the series seemed to be half appealing, along with once again crossing weapons with the different well known bad guys. Unfortunately, living an old license isn’t enough on its own if you want things to be a great success. And from this point of view, whether you are a fan of GI Joe or not, everyone is still in agreement about this game.

Action won’t be missing in this game as very quickly the game plunges you into the heart of adventure. As you will have understood, you join the ranks of GI Joe and you have to investigate an arms dealing group, the MARS, in your own muscled way. The soldier’s of Cobra are waiting for you and without out being able to do anything, your team mates are captured and held prisoner while the evil Baroness escapes. You will have to go on the hunt for information about the MARS, with the scenario unfolding through vocal exchanges with your team mates, although these all remain rather basic. Without being based around a real story to keep you interested, the scenario shows itself to be rather empty. You only have a single alternative then, and that is to complete the missions and achieve high scores until boredom overcomes you.
