Cpuz has confirmed that the installed processor is indeed the Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo (T8300). You will find this processor in top of the line laptops like the Dell XPS M1530. This is logical because the Penryn (socket P (478)) was before all else designed for laptops! The chipset chosen is the Intel Mobile GM965 Express and its frontal bus is 800 MHz. The motherboard comes from the maker Pegatron (Eve model). For your information, this is the same assembler as for the Asus Eee PC.

The machine comes with 4GB of SDRAM DR 2 So-Dimm, which are PC6400 running at 40 MHz. The slots 1 and 2 are taken up by 2GB barrettes made by Samsung. These work perfectly with the Windows Vista 64 bit operating system pre-installed by HP. This because the 32 bit version of Windows Vista isn’t capable of handling this amount of RAM (maximum of 3.25 GB only). The machine can evolve in the future to 8 GN by simply opening the lid yourself and adding the memory. The operation can already be completed by purchasing 2x4GB barrettes being sold by Kingston.

PCMark and 3DMark Vantage

With Windows Vista, the benchmarks that are the best adapted to the Vantage versions of PCMark and 3DMark. The score reached with PCMark was 4230. A quick comparison taken in the Benchmarks guide will provide us with more information. With a score of 4230, the HP IQ810 achieved exactly the same overall result as a machine equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 running at 2.5GHz with 3GB of RAM. The Dell XPS M1530 equipped with Windows Vista and an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT obtained a score of 3736 points. The Hewlett-Packard machine therefore comes out not too bad at all.

In terms of 3DMark, the Nvidia GeForce 9600M (512 MG) which supports DirectX 10 obtained a score of P1316. Its performance is very similar to the 8600 M GT (see the Dell XPS M1530) but used a lot less power. As an indication, the heaver FPS games worked very well at 1024 x 768. This is therefore a middle of the range offering which is better suited to watching television and DivX files.

HdTunes Pro

The SATA hard drive which we tested wasn’t the 640GB version which we indicated above, but instead a Western Digital 500 GB (3.0 GB/s, 7200 rpm, 16MB cache). The reading access time measured of 19.6 ms is rather high. The average transfer time was around 63 Mb/s (80 Mb/s maximum). This is a hard drive that can definitely be classified as being silent.
