Then this look at the Opera 10 Desktop Internet Suite may be what you are looking for! This is without a doubt a question that you will be asking yourself as you read this article!

Opera 10: Web browser and Internet suite

Improved Opera Mail and Web integration
Internet users that knew Netscape Communicator won’t be surprised to find an Opera an included email client. This is rather satisfying to see, with it now benefiting all of the modern functions. You will find an address book, integrated spell checker, anti-spam filter, RSS stream manager, file attachment manager (very lever), memo and news groups discussion client (Usenet)…

If you don’t want to use the integrated email client, this isn’t a problem. Opera won’t impose their Opera Mail client on you. You simply need to click on the email addresses on a page or on the Send via email option available in Opera to open the redirection page to your normal client. This is the same for RSS stream management/ Atom.

IRC Client and BitTorrent Client

Even if more and more web sites are integrating Java clients for chat, advanced users that won’t to have a flexible tool can opt for the advanced IRC client provided in the Opera suite. The standard IRC commands are supported (/join, /whois, /part, /nick, /msg), along with smiley’s. You can of course even create your own chatroom and be an operator …

Those used to using the BitTorrent P2P protocol will probably already have their own favourite (µtorrent, Transmission, Vuze…). If you are only an occasional user tough, then perhaps it is best to take a look at the included client. This comes with all of the essential options with incoming port test options, download folder and incoming and outgoing speeds.

Security: Protection against fraud, VE and automatic updates

In terms of security, Opera gives nothing away. The browser supports the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) version 3 and TLS standards and 256-bits encryption which is the highest available in any Web browser. The deletion of private information is also present, along with cookie management, digital certificate verification displayed in the security bar and anti-fraud protection (anti-phishing).

Opera also handles validation certificates. Secure web sites therefore benefit from greater security. Like all modern browsers, the update to the latest secure version is automatic. By going to Tools, Settings, Security, Automatic Update, you can activate this feature so that the updates will be done silently and automatically, notify the user that an update is available, or leave the browser in its current state.

Opera Dragonfly evolution for Web developers

With the latest version of the Opera Dragonfly development tools, developers have the possibility of changing the mode, the DOM and control the headers in http sections. Opera 10 which benefits 100 % from the Acid3 compatibility test, allows for multiple style sheets which can be individually activated or disabled, unlike most browsers which only allow a single custom CSS style sheet. The browser also supports a large number of Web standards (CSS3, CSS2, HTML 4, XHTML 1, HTTP 1.1, DOM 2, JavaScript, PNG, SVG 1.1 Basic, Unicode and the bi-directional Unicode algorithm).
