HTC Touch Diamond PDAPhone

The digital camera on the HTC Touch Diamond PDAPhone has a CMOS 3.2 mega pixel lens with auto focus, although there is no flash. It allows you to take photos and videos that can then be viewed on the full screen, oriented depending on the position the device is being held thanks to its accelerometer.

Using the device is quite simple: you simply need to go to the Photos and Video tab and choose the viewing mode. Once the photo mode on the device has been selected, then this will take up the whole screen allowing you to view your content.

Options
By tapping on the screen you will have access to the options. There are capture options which for example allow for panorama mode or to take photos for your address book. There are also advanced options which cover all settings: photo quality, balancing, effects (inversed colors, fade) and other classics. There is also the possibility of using the digital zoom from the touch screen.

Viewing is very simple. You simply need to view an object of scene to then take the photo, with the focus being automatic. To actually take the picture, you simply need to use either the screen or the pad. The latency time is a good two seconds and it will therefore be difficult to take moving objects.

As for the quality, it is rather good. Outside, with good lighting, the pictures are quite correct. What ruins it a little is when you are inside with low lighting, although the results aren’t catastrophic.

Even without having the quality of a traditional digital camera, the HTC Touch Diamond isn’t totally lost. The photos can be viewed in slideshows or shared in MMS after they have been re-dimensioned.

GPS, but no integrated navigation software
As for the GPS, the HTC Touch Diamond is delivered without any navigation software. You can though find the Google Maps application, which is a start. The integrated antenna is made by Qualcomm, offering compatibility with A-GPS.

You can therefore download the results from 7 days earlier to speed up the loading of your first position. It is difficult to realize the quality of the receiver’s chipset. On the other hand, what is easily visible is the energy use which accompanies its use.

It will be difficult to use it for anything besides quick and discontinued use, especially since there is no power plug compatible with the cigarette lighter provided with the device.
