PNY GeForce 8800GTS video card test

While we are still awaiting the arrival of ATI/AMD’s R600 card to hit the market, nVidia has taken advantage of their dominant position in high range cards. While the 320MB GeForce 8800GTS and GeForce8600GT and Ultra are destined for the middle of the range, today we will be looking at PNY’s 8800GTS card.

PNY GeForce 8800GTS video card test

Already looked at long and hard by other reviewers, the benefits of the unified architecture of the GeForce 8 have already been looked at.

And even if the new GeForce 8800GTX is above and beyond all the other graphics cards currently available, its restrictive price of 830 dollars will turn off most of us. Even if Windows Vista (which we will look at in numerous articles) has just been released, the lack of games that can take advantage of Microsoft’s new API will probably keep gamers back on their older video cards. A lot of them are eagerly awaiting the release of the AMD/ATI R600 release to discover its potential.

But for the more impatient of you, the GeForce 8800GTS which is also based around the nVidias G80 chip, and which comes with a more affordable price (approx 600 dollars), seems to represent a good compromise between price and performance.
