Netgear WNCE2001: Ethernet to Wi-Fi 802.11n adaptor

The Netgear WNCE2001 is an Ethernet to Wi-Fi 802.11n adaptor. So what would you use this for? Simply to connect your local area network or Internet connection to a device which has an RJ45 port that is situated a long way away from the Internet box. You may have a TV, multimedia player, printer or games console that is without WiFi connectivity, with this therefore being an economical solution to fully benefit from all of the communicative functions available on your devices, without annoying cables.

Connecting and installing Push'N' Connect, with WPS
The physical connection is very simple. You connect the device either with a USB cable or the power adaptor. Then connect the Ethernet adaptor directly to your peripheral device (television, console, multimedia player). Next, press the WNCE2001 button followed by the WPS situated on your router. When the lights stop flashing and everything turns green, the process is complete!

Classic installation without WPS
To install the device without WPS, the procedure is slightly different. Disconnect all Ethernet and WiFi connections from your machine. Connect the Ethernet cable from the PC to the adaptor and power up the WNCE2001.

Accessing the device is done from www.mywifiext.com
Next open your internet browser and enter the address "http://www.mywifiext.com" or enter the local IP address of the adaptor. Select your language and location. You will then have to wait while the device automatically updates.

Select the wireless network
The "Netgear SmartWizard" will in a few seconds detect the active wireless networks around you. You simply have to select yours. If it is invisible due to you hiding it in the router interface, for example, then select the "Manually enter my wireless SSID" option. You then just need to enter your SSID, the security in use and your wireless networks authentication phrase. Once this has been done, disconnect the WNCE2001 and connect it to the device for which you are configuring it (television, Blu-ray player, etc.). You will now have an established link and you can move on to the advanced settings option – although this isn’t obligatory.
