Splitfish Frag FX V2

After many months wait, numerous reports and a lack of information on the Splitfish site, the new Frag FX engine has finally made it to specialised video game shops. After the V1 and its mixed reception due to numerous imperfections, we can only hope that this model revisited by Splitfish is a lot better, allowing PS3 players to get the same sensations experienced on the PC.

Splitfish Frag FX V2

The Splitfish Frag FX, far from all of the negatives we mentioned, is a very effective way of playing FPS games on the console. Allowing you to configure its controls as you see fit, and sufficiently ergonomic and using all of the buttons on the sixaxis as well as the gyroscope function, it is a lot better then the game pad for a PC gamer who is used to their usual controls. And unlike some people who may criticize it, we don’t see it as a form of cheating either.

Like with all controllers, it requires some getting used to and practice, so that you can work out the limitations imposed by the games. Now we just need to see if this kind of device will attract a big following for console players, with a price tag of 100 dollars. For PC fans who want to be able to control their console in the same way that they are  used to, then this will be an almost certain purchase. But for this to happen it will need to find good distribution, which is something that seems to be currently lacking.

  • Overall Score
A good score for a good product overall. While the Frag FX isn’t perfect, it at least deserves to be looked at as an alternative for gamers who don’t like the way FPS games are controlled on the console. Of course, the amount of money you will have to spend is rather important as it’s the same price as a new game, but we really should highlight how much better it is playing the games as if they were on the PC and that the action is certainly better appreciated with the Frag FX in hand.
