Reminder:

Windows Vista, previously known as project Longhorn, is the next operating system to be released by the American company Microsoft. Planned for the end of 2006, this OS is the successor to Windows XP.

Like when windows XP replaced Windows 98, Vista will significantly change our ideas of an Operating system deigned for Joe Blow. It will have a futuristic graphical interface, new utilisation methods and incomparable stability and security.

In this test, we are going to present a system that is not yet finalised. We are using build number 5270 which will be close to the "final" beta version 2 (it is already named beta 2 as you can see from the screen shot below), which should have initially been on offer in October 2005 but will finally be seen at the end of February, start of March 2006. This version already more or less brings a lot of active new functions, including the new Avalon vectored graphical interface with its 3D module, searching tools, security, internet explorer, content control and other applications. This should give us a pretty good idea already of what will be on offer in the final version.

In part one of this file, we were only interested in the general presentation of Vista, the different stages of its design. We focussed a lot of attention on the dual shock of Avalon and Aero; the new Vista 3D graphical interface modules that are supported by DirectX. As we have indicated, it is more then one new simple interface "crammed full" with 3D effects. It has the ability to perform these functions with your current graphics card, already constituting a big advancement.

In this second part, we are going to go into the heart of the system and present all the small new functions that are included in Vista. This will be, without doubt, a much power powerful system then Windows XP.

So let’s start the visit!
