Toppan Forms Co., Ltd., one of Japan’s leading business forms and data
printing services, has acquired its fourth KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press.
In 2011, Toppan Forms installed three PROSPER 5000XL Presses as the
primary technology to drive growth in its educational book printing
division and expansion into new markets.
“Over the past several months, we’ve seen a tremendous increase in both
jobs and volumes—spanning a number of applications—that are produced on
the PROSPER 5000XL Press,” said Toshiro Masuda, Senior Managing
Director, Toppan Forms Co., Ltd. “Our existing presses have been running
at full production, and the addition of a fourth PROSPER 5000XL Press
will enable us to continue our path of steady growth and best serve our
customers across multiple markets.”
Toppan Forms utilizes the PROSPER
5000XL Press as part of its personalized solution for the Japanese
education publishing market. The system allows print buyers to use a
fully-digital workflow to cost effectively and efficiently move orders
from client to completion. In addition, the PROSPER 5000XL Press plays a
central role as Toppan Forms continuously offers new capabilities and
services in high-speed variable-data printing.
“Toppan Forms is an innovative company known for its breakthrough
technologies and product offerings,” said Lois Lebegue, Kodak’s Vice
President of Commercial and Consumer Sales, Asia Pacific Region. “We
look forward to partnering with Toppan Forms as it brings new
applications that are best delivered by the PROSPER 5000XL Press to its
customers.”
Hiroshi Fujiwara, Managing Director of Kodak Japan, said, “The purchase
of a fourth PROSPER 5000XL Press indicates the success Toppan Forms has
experienced with its current business model; Toppan Forms has become a
new printing industry case study of growth through high-speed variable
printing. I’m very proud of the trust Toppan Forms has placed in Kodak.”
The KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press brings offset-class output approaching
175 lines per inch with roll-fed speeds of up to 650 feet (or 200
meters) per minute. The press features a monthly duty cycle of up to 90
million A4 pages and is able to handle both coated and uncoated papers,
including glossy coated, with basis weights ranging from 45 gsm–300 gsm
(30 lbs–200 lbs). This combination of speed and superior quality makes
the PROSPER 5000XL Press one of the most productive inkjet web presses
on the market for 8-, 12- and 16-page signatures.
