Go to find people. In the input field, you can now look for your contacts and user groups which correspond to your interests. You can enter a username, a first and surname or a clue. In a fraction of a second, the corresponding results will be displayed. You then simply click in Actions on the “Next…” icon, and you will become a member of the club! You will automatically be advised when another member posts a message. So as to find “interesting” subscription lists, we recommend that you use a directory like Tweetmeme which displays the most popular topics, Twitr which is the number 1 directory, Wefollow which displays the Top Twitter Users, Top Tags and Top Cities, and TwitDir which will refine your search (top 100, top 100 updaters, top 100 followers…)..

Other specialised sites allow you to join Twitterment networks, while a keywords search is available with Utwitbook, providing you with multiple search fields or biographies, key words, the same colours as your Twitter page and the number of subscribed followers. Tweepz may surprise you to the number of relevant results that it returns, especially if you use the appropriate search jargon (e.g. bio: + term, name: + full name, location: + country…). TweepSearch is still only available as a beta version but this doesn’t stop it from compiling more than 13 million profiles. You can sort your results by number of users, followers and friends.

There are also numerous directories in other languages allowing users to find the most popular networks. For French language users, Twitterfrancais will provide you with access to numerous celebrities (Hugh Jackman, Lady Gaga, Lance Armstrong, Ben Stiller, Kayne West, Ashton Kutcher, Bjork, Britney Spears, Elijah Wood, Lindsay Lohan, Demi Moore…), while you can also try Qui Twitte ?, to find the best French Tweeter. Everything is sorted by fields (media, job, politics, communication, health, literature, cinema, environment, video games, music, cooking, etc.)
