of California, Irvine Extension will offer online courses titled “Security
Architecture and Design” and “Network
Security: Concepts & Technologies” from June 25 through
September 2 for professionals looking to expand their website security
knowledge due to increased information security threats and high
visibility breaches. Both are required courses in the Information
Systems Security Certificate Program, which provides attendees with
the skills needed to manage secure information systems environments. UC
Irvine Extension will also offer a free webinar titled “Security
Architecture and Design” on May 29 which will cover trends that
impact the designing, engineering, and managing of secure information
systems environments.
“The information systems security field continues to grow rapidly due to
government and corporate America dramatically increasing their security
requirements due to continued hacking threats,” said Dave Dimas,
director of engineering, sciences and information technology at UC
Irvine Extension. “Professionals who participate in UC Irvine
Extension’s continuing education courses and webinars will benefit from
learning about the latest security and other trends impacting the
industry, which can be applied to their current and future positions.”
The first course “Security
Architecture & Design,” taught by Dr.
Ian Harris, will address the principles and benefits of security
architecture, trusted systems and computing bases, along with security
systems and information security evaluation model concepts.
The second course “Network
Security: Concepts and Technologies,” taught by Tony Gaidhane,
director of information security at Wellpoint, covers fundamental
concepts, principles and practical networking and internetworking issues
relevant to the design, analysis and implementation of networked
information systems for businesses.
The free webinar “Security
Architecture and Design,” will be held on May 29 from 11:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. PST. Facilitated by Dr.
Ian Harris, the webinar will provide attendees with insight into the
critical issues related to network security, along with practical
industry concepts and their application to improve the security of
information systems.
