Valley Regional Hospital Selects HMS for Full Product Suite Delivered via ASP

Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) has selected Healthcare Management Systems, Inc.® (HMS), to provide a full suite of integrated clinical and financial information system applications for the 25-bed hospital in Claremont, N.H.

The HMS system is an enterprise-wide technology solution implemented in more than 680 community hospitals and specialty care facilities across the United States and Puerto Rico. Patricia Witthaus, director of information systems, said VRH wanted an IT partner that understood community hospitals, owned all major components of the system (inpatient/emergency department/physician practice) and could deliver the full suite of products as an application service provider (ASP).

“To meet the growing needs of our business, patients, physicians and community, we needed a fully integrated system at an affordable price that is offered as a hosted solution, requiring less direct IT support for hardware and software and allowing our staff more time to optimize our systems to enhance patient care and safety and meet meaningful use,” said Witthaus. “Additionally, all our hospital departments identified true systems integration as their No. 1 need, and HMS was the only vendor who could offer us that.”
