The simplified Opera Mini browser has had version 7 released on Android, with this release being more reactive than previous releases.
The Opera Mini browser was initially designed to provide a similar user experience on entry level smartphones as that normally seen on middle of the range products. Its quick success in emerging markets, notably in countries where PC’s are rare and are widely outnumbered by mobile phones which are the primary method of accessing the internet, the browser being quickly transported to smartphones.
The boundary between Opera Mobile, the browser for smartphones, and Opera mini has been reduced even more as Opera has decided to harmonise the user interfaces, with Opera Mini consequently seeing a large increase in functions.
The latest release of its generation, Opera Mini 7 for Android is now available for download. It still brings with it the simple browsing and Web page compression to reduce mobile data use and the quick launch Speed Dial interface which is now no longer limited to 9 favourite sites but rather it is now possible to have unlimited entries.
The browser is also more reactive and fluid, better handling graphics acceleration. The editor is still pushing web pages compression by up to 90% after passing through their servers.
The Opera Mini 7 for Android application can be downloaded from the editor’s site.
