which news server keeps posts of 8 years old ?

What's the use of the newsgroup if I'm not able to search posts of
several years old? Since there may have been answers in those old posts
when I'd like to ask a question about Linux.

Searching a post in Google group is a nightmare. Google keeps posts
dated back 1981. When I did any searching in Google, several thousand
posts were found, but all posts were displayed without any sorting
order. A terrible experience.

But there seems not too much news servers which can keep posts of
several years old. Almost all free news servers keep posts on their
servers only for a month. I only found a server which keeps posts dated
back 2003. That server is a commercial one (www.giganews.com), and
charges at least $4.99 per month. I think it's rather expensive.

My question is that: are there any free news servers ( I'm currently
using aioe.org ) which keep posts of several years old? or any cheaper
commercial ones than Giganews? or any convenient ways to search posts in
newsgroup?
