The high-tech industry is preparing for Wi-Fi AD, a new wireless networking standard.
While the first devices compatible with the Wi-Fi 802.11ac standard, otherwise known as Gigabit Wi-Fi, have started to appear on the market, here we are already talking about its replacement.
Known as Wi-Fi 802.11ad or Multi-Gigabit Wi-Fi, this standard should be officialised at the end of the year, in December. As for the first supporting devices, they could all quickly arrive from 2013.
As its name suggests, the main evolution is the way the technology makes multiple wireless network connections, each in the order of 1 Gbit/s.
It goes without saying that we are anticipating the first demonstrations. Perhaps this may take place at CES in Las Vegas in January 2013?
