The development of Windows Phone Mango has been finalised and Microsoft’s mobile platform is now being delivered to their manufacturing partners for the OS to be integrated into future products.
The Windows Phone development team has confirmed through their official blog that the Mango update for Windows Phone has reached the RTM phase (Release to Manufacturing), the last step before it is made available to the public.
The new version is currently being sent to handset manufacturers and phone carriers to make final adaptations/customisations to match their products and services. Microsoft is also preparing for the distribution of an update to existing handsets in the autumn of this year.

The first platform update highlighted what a delicate process this is, with a lot of users becoming frustrated by delays to the release of the new OS and problematic installations on some handsets.
Mango is a major update for Windows Phone (even if it is stamped Windows Phone 7.1) with it to add 500 new functions to the OS, with the most important of these being a real multi-tasking mode, the appearance of a more powerful mobile IE9 web browser and dynamic tiles for the welcome page.
