WordPress version 3.1

A major update to the CMS WordPress application has been made available with the release of engine 3.1.

Gadget Wordpress (50x50)Published under the GNU GPLv2 license and based on the PHP – MySQL pairing, WordPress is a CMS solution which allows you to manage any Web site, although it is mostly known as a blogging platform. It is one of the most popular interfaces in the world.

After version 3.0 was published in June last year, a new major version has now been made available this week. Among the functions noted in the complete version notes, WordPress 3.1 brings with it internal links to be able to directly link content being edited to that already existent. An administration bar allows you to save time when performing various actions like modifying an article, adding content and changing the sites appearance.

Post formats have also been added. These are defined as a themed function, but are more precisely a piece of meta-information used by a theme to personalise the presentation of a posting. Numerous models are offered.

Microsoft is currently sending emails to users of Windows Live Spaces to remind them that the service is scheduled for shut down on the 16th of March 2011. To avoid data loss, the personal space can be updated and transferred to WordPress.com. The blogging service provided by the free WordPress is qualified as "powerful and innovative".
